The final Stoli chapter!

The final full day with the Stoli's and another beach on the agenda. This time, Petani Beach on the west coast of Kefalonia. We didn't know what to expect but the drive alone made it worthwhile.

Having done a good chunk of it both by boat and by car, Kefalonia would be a great two week venue for anybody planning a holiday in Greece. There is so much to see and do and the island is just spectacular.

Argostoli across the bay where the boat was moored and where we spent a very interesting week.
The roads are adrenalin inducing, specially since the January earth quake which left the most precipitous stretches of road at half their normal width, the other half having plunged hundreds of feet into the abyss.

A sample of a piece of road that just managed to hang in there! Interesting trying to explain what an earthquake is to the kids.

Here, a constant reminder of the perils of a scenic route. So many of these shrines, usually on bends where you'd expect to see them where the view has claimed its victim at some time in the past.

Breathtaking at every turn

And then finally the vision that greets you when you reach Petani Beach

You don't see too many Asian people in Greece but you can always rely on Sally to find one when in need of a massage.

We were all talked into this treatment when Sal was done and were very pleased we were.

The sun here is not the same as it is in Aus. Although it can get very hot, it just doesn't burn like the Ausie sun and sun screen gets very little air play here.

The kids are all as brown as (no idea why they say berries?) but they are.

This is the Northern end of the beach

This, the southern...

and these guys are hating every minute of it.

Ron with phone.... there is no other state.

On the way home we popped into Lixouri. This was the epicenter of the January earthquake but it has power and water on the quay and Sal and I thought we might move the boat to there while we waited for Jack and Stina to arrive.

There was quite a bit of earthquake damage. This being part of the quay. That aside, we didn't get a good feeling from the place and decided that we'd stay in Argostoli until they arrived.

A long drive back and an early night, we would meet the Stoli's for lunch in the square and bid them a fond farewell from there..
