Lakka - Just perfect

We had no expectations of plugging in but we did want to be on the town wall which was full when we arrived and anchored. By 9:00 the following morning there was a mass exodus so we hoisted the dingy and now that we had our depth instrument back, took up prime position right in the centre of town.
This is a great little cafe/bar taken from inside the boat!
We were surprised to see that there was in fact one power/water unit on the dock but when we inquired we were informed that it was not working..." but, if you go up that little ally to the Ionis Hotel, they may be able to help you".
And indeed we did and indeed they did. They ran an extension cable to where ours ran out and they had a hose that came all the way to the boat!
For the entire stay we were the only boat plugged in... it makes such a difference to our perspective of a place.

Rather than go on about it, Lakka is just such a beautiful place, here are some shots:

From the Beach Taverna
Hey? How's this? Water 22 degrees.

The Garden Restaurant

Typical Street Scene

Another great endorsement for home schooling!

Captain Will the Conqueror

There is a restaurant here called NioNios where there is a menu, but you don't bother with that. You just go inside and Yiannis takes you through the most amazing array of cooked Greek dishes that by the time he is done, you just want the lot.
Here is a YouTube link, just click on it to see him in action. The clip concentrates a little too much on him and not enough on the food, but you'll get the drift. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Xm_gGFniKM
Unfortunately, Sally, and some Ausies we had told about the place, chose the Lamb Kleftika, and Lamb hock cooked in paper, usually really good. Well, none of them were fully cooked and as one of the Ausies said, "it was like eating an anchor!" Pity, what I had did live up to the hype.

The prominade in Logos

On the outside of the bay itself
One of the places we drove through last time we were on the island was Logos. As with Lakka at that time, it was miserably cold and pretty well shut when we came through, so we decided to give it another shot.
A 6Euro taxi ride got us there and what a transformation. Logos is another beautiful town on a bay lined with tavernas and restaurants. Here are some piccies....

Lunch Spot

Relax, it's been a tough day..

I had a little lie down to sleep off the mid day half litre. Whilst embarrassing myself with the usual loud snoring my credit card must have slipped from my pocket and that makes two of them gone on this trip so far...!!!

We did have to take a ride back to Gaios to get some cash. Nobody takes credit cards here and of course the ATM machine in Lakka was out of order. It was fun being back in such familiar surroundings. Will caught up with his mates who were all demonstratively happy to see him... big hugs all round and all the mates got rounded up for the occasion.

The kids also made a bunch of mates in Lakka, this time some of them spoke English which doesn't seem to make any difference but there were a few girls for Summer for a change.

I'll leave Lakka with this final shot on our last night there.... kinda sums the place up really.
